Our founder was a regular at a small cafe in Indiranagar — the kind of place where the same faces show up every week, sit two feet apart, and never say a word to each other. Everyone was reachable on their phone and unreachable in the room.
Promise Cafe started as a simple question: what if the cafe itself gave people permission to say hello? Not a dating app, not a networking event — just a low-pressure, consent-first way to meet the person actually sitting near you.
The second question came from cafe owners themselves: if people are going to spend an afternoon connecting, why not make it worth the cafe's while too? That question is why our very first cafe is opening as both — a place to meet people, and a business built to thrive.
